You Can Heal Your Life! Louise Hay

I first discovered the power of affirmations through a little book by Louise Hay called, You Can Heal Your Life. I discovered the most basic concepts underlying new thought, and began a transformative journey which has ultimately led me to the creation of this website. This tiny volume introduced me to the idea that if I changed my thinking, I could change my life.

I began to understand that the power of life was in this moment, and in this moment, I held a belief about my life that was based on my past experiences. Everything I felt about my life came from a thought about it, and a thought could be changed. Louise told me that it did not matter what I used to think about my life, only what I thought here in the present moment.

Using affirmations, or brief positive statements about these new thought choices I was making in my life, I began to get to my core belief system. I discovered my beliefs about who I was, what I deserved in life, were the very things that were creating my future. I began to love myself, and I became capable of providing for myself the kind of life I wanted to live.

Don't Worry, Make Money : Spiritual and Practical Ways to Create Abundance and More Fun in Your Life by Richard Carlson

From the bestselling coauthor of Handbook for the Soul and Don't Sweat the Small Stuff comes a collection of 100 short essays that feature brilliant strategies for achieving financial success by giving up stress, worry, anger, and fear. Often we get into the trap of thinking that the only way to earn a good living is to stay late at the office, feeling stressed out and full of anxiety. However, this can actually get in the way of having a productive and rewarding career, and can drastically decrease our earnings. "Accept the fact that you can make excuses, or you can make money, but you can't do both," Carlson tells us.

I originally bout this book for my husband, but found myself reading it too. I still read one of these essays every day for inspiration.

Dynamic Laws of Prosperity by Catherine Ponder

Although this books starts out in a biblical sense of creation the author takes the reader step by step to the awareness necessary to create their own reality. She discusses prosperity, love, and healing and gives the reader ways to create their own affirmations with an awareness of intent. I found the success stories to be a great relief as I stumbled in my execution of the dynamic laws. Initially they provided the encouragement to keep reading, to keep going. Her explanation's on creating vaccums is one of the best I have read.

Simple Abundance : A Daybook of Comfort and Joy by Sarah Ban Breathnach

If you are one of those people who are always going but never seeming to get somewhere, then this book is for you. This book features 366 essays penned from a woman's perspective. Sample topics include gratitude, harmony, self-nurturing, positive body image, the importance of scented linen closets, and many others. It's hard to argue with Simple Abundance's earnest admonitions to appreciate life, in all its messy imperfect excellence.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach their children and the poor and middle class do not...

Personal-finance author and lecturer Robert Kiyosaki developed his unique economic perspective through exposure to a pair of disparate influences: his own highly educated but fiscally unstable father, and the multimillionaire eighth-grade dropout father of his closest friend. The lifelong monetary problems experienced by his "poor dad" (whose weekly paychecks, while respectable, were never quite sufficient to meet family needs) pounded home the counterpoint communicated by his "rich dad" (that "the poor and the middle class work for money," but "the rich have money work for them"). Taking that message to heart, Kiyosaki was able to retire at 47. Rich Dad, Poor Dad, written with consultant and CPA Sharon L. Lechter, lays out his the philosophy behind his relationship with money. Although Kiyosaki can take a frustratingly long time to make his points, his book nonetheless compellingly advocates for the type of "financial literacy" that's never taught in schools. Based on the principle that income-generating assets always provide healthier bottom-line results than even the best of traditional jobs, it explains how those assets might be acquired so that the jobs can eventually be shed.
